Located in Murray City, Ohio, Smoke Rise Ranch has been owned and operated within the Semingson family for the last 80 years.

Walt Semingson passed away in the late 2000s, riding horses up until the day he passed. Since then, the three Semingson brothers have taken over the ranch. Brent, Lynn and Mark Semingson carry out the responsibilities around the ranch now.

The boys take care of everything from boot camps, cattle herding and riding basics for whoever wants to stay at the ranch for a weekend. With the help of some employees the ranch runs smoothly year round

Brent Semingson stands outside the office at Smoke Rise Ranch. Brent Semingson is one of three Semingson brothers, raised by their father Walt Semingson. Walt and his three sons first came out to Murray City and founded Smoke Rise in 1980. This ranch is known as home to many who have built property on the land and is also known as a getaway for fellow horse lovers. “Like my father always said, I wanted my last ride to be where the trail meets the sky and to hold my head up high and whatever side of the trail I land on is the right one,” said Brent.

The cowboy’s usual meal at the end of a long day is just burgers and hot dogs, but Mark Semingson is a health nut cowboy who unlike other cowboys, has to have veggies and greens in his supper.
